A rapid membrane enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the qualitative detection of a Campylobacter-specific antigen in human fecal specimens

  • Results in 30 minutes compared to culture, which requires 72 hours and is prone to false negative results due to stringent sample or specimen transport and growth requirements
  • Can be performed with fresh, frozen, Cary Blair or C&S samples or specimens
  • Detects C. jejuniand, C. coli, C. upsaliensis, and C. lari
  • For patients with signs and symptoms of gastroenteritis
  • Does not rely on bacterial viability, and can be performed on the bench-top with samples that have been exposed to air
  • The test is intended for use with preserved fecal specimens in transport media and unpreserved fecal specimens
