Quinine hydrochloride dihydrate is an orally active anti-malarial agent that functions as a potassium channel inhibitor. It has demonstrated inhibitory effects on WT mouse Slo3 (KCa5.1) channel currents and on the proliferation and cytostatic effects of Dengue virus (DENV) in human hepatocarcinoma HepG2 cells. Additionally, it has shown some tumor-suppressing effects on skin cancer in Swiss albino mice.
