Selectively isolate Salmonella spp. (other than Salmonella Typhi) from food, dairy products, eggs, and feed with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Brilliant Green Agar w/Sulfa prepared plates. The medium is recommended by the American Public Health Association (APHA) and the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to isolate Salmonella from food, egg and meat products.

Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) is a common bacterial disease that affects the intestinal tract. Salmonella bacteria typically live in animal and human intestines and are shed through feces. Humans become infected most frequently through contaminated water or food.

Carry out selective isolation of Salmonella spp. (other than Salmonella Typhi) from food, dairy products, eggs, and feed with Brilliant Green Agar w/Sulfa.

  • Selective: brilliant green dye acts as a selective agent inhibiting Gram-positive bacteria and most of the Gram-negative bacteria.
  • Easy-to-read: Salmonella colonies range in colour from red to pink with a red zone. Sucrose and lactose fermenters that may occasionally grow appear as yellow to green colonies.
  • Ready to use convenience of prepared media.
