Cultivate fastidious microorganisms with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ GCHI Enrichment with Rehydrating Solution when used with GC Agar Base (R453502).

Early culture methods for Neisseria gonorrhoeae included chocolate agar and the use of commercial peptones and yeast extract.

Various investigators studied nutritional requirements of gonococcus and found that components such as yeast extract, glutamine, cocarboxylase and cystine enhance the development of gonococci. The GCI Enrichment is used to cultivate pathogenic Neisseria. It has broad applications for other organisms as well, such as Haemophilus.

Cultivate fastidious microorganisms using GCHI Enrichment (lyophilized) with Rehydrating Solution.

  • Improve recovery time: GC Agar Base enriched with haemoglobin and yeast concentrate improves development of gonococci.

GCHI Enrichment with Rehydrating Solution contains vitamins, amino acids, coenzymes, dextrose, ferric ions, and other factors that enhances the growth of pathogenic Neisseria. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) supplies enrichment necessary for the growth of Haemophilus spp.
