Perform effortless susceptibility testing of Haemophilus influenza with ready-to-use Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Haemophilus Test Medium (HTM). The medium forms part of the recommended methods by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI)1. Haemophilus Test Medium has been specifically formulated for the susceptibility testing of Haemophilus influenzae. The results achieved using HTM have been found to be highly reproducible2,3. The transparency of the medium allows zones of inhibition to be easily read through the bottom of the plate.

The occurrence of resistant strains of Haemophilus influenza has increased in recent decades, underscoring the need for reliable susceptibility testing methods for this organisms. Modifications to standard susceptibility testing procedures have become necessary because of the fastidious nature of H. influenza. Complex growth-stimulating supplements, ordinarily used to grow Haemophilus spp., have been found to promote antagonisms of certain antibiotics and result in poor reproducibility4. Difficulties in interpreting inhibition zones may also arise.
