Description

Detect β-D-galactosidase activity of Enterobacteriaceae and other microorganisms using ONPG Broth.

Identify and differentiate Enterobacteriaceae and other microorganisms on the basis of β-D-galactosidase activity using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ ONPG Broth. The ONPG test is a very sensitive test and recommended for the differentiation of certain enteric gram-negative bacilli. The O-nitrophenyl-β-D-galactopyranoside (ONPG) substrate was developed by Seidman and Link1. Later researchers used it for detecting β-D-galactosidase activity essential for rapid biochemical identification of enteric gram-negative bacilli2,3.
