Thermo Scientific™ Pseudomonas F Agar
Description
Detect and differentiate Pseudomonas aeruginosa from other Pseudomonas spp. based on fluorescein production using Pseudomonas F Agar.
Detect and differentiate Pseudomonas aeruginosa from other Pseudomonas spp. based on fluorescein production using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Pseudomonas F Agar. In 1954, King et al. developed two media formulations (Medium A and Medium B) to enhance pigment production in pseudomonads1. Earlier work had demonstrated that the production of pyocyanin and fluorescein is influenced by amino acids, inorganic ions, minerals, and peptones. King determined that the composition of the peptone in the medium affected the production of these pigments.
Pseudomonas F Agar is used for the differentiation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from other pseudomonads based on fluorescein production. Pseudomonas F Agar was developed by King, Ward, and Raney to give improved fluorescein production. The absenc
