Cultivate pathogenic yeast and molds from clinical specimens with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Sabouraud Dextrose Broth 4%. Sabouraud Dextrose Broth is a modification of the dextrose agar described by Sabouraud1,2.

Cultivate pathogenic yeast and molds from clinical specimens with Sabouraud Dextrose Broth 4%.

  • Ready-to-use – Convenience of a prepared media.
  • Suitable for isolation of pathogenic molds from a material containing a large amount of other molds or bacteria.
  • Low pH makes the medium favorable for the growth of fungi especially dermatophytes, inhibiting some contaminating bacteria.

This medium contains casein and meat peptones nitrogenous compounds and amino acids necessary for the growth of yeasts and fungi. Dextrose is an energy source which serves to support the growth of fungi. The low pH of the medium is favorable to the growth of fungi, especially dermatophytes, while also inhibiting contaminating bacteria in clinical specimens.
