Thermo Scientific™ Strep Selective II Agar
Description
Selectively isolate beta-hemolytic Group A Streptococcus from throat cultures and upper respiratory specimens using Strep Selective II Agar.
Selectively isolate β-hemolytic Group A Streptococcus from throat cultures and upper respiratory specimens using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Strep Selective II Agar (w/colistin, oxolinic acid). Pacifico at al. demonstrated the isolation of β-hemolyic streptococci is improved with the use of a selective medium which inhibits oropharyngeal commensal microbial flora1. In 1984, Pelts developed a selective medium containing colistin and oxolinic acid2. This medium was valuable for isolation of streptococci from mixed flora, resulting in increased isolation rates and early identification of isolates.
