Description

Selectively isolate and differentiate coliform organisms with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Tergitol 7 Agar w/TTC. The use of tergitol (sodium heptadecyl sulfate) as a selective agent was first proposed by Pollard in 19461. Tergitol 7 Agar was later developed by Chapman for selective isolation and increased recovery of the coliform organisms2,3. Later Tergitol 7 Agar was modified by addition of triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) to facilitate early recognition of Escherichia coli and Enterobacter aerogenes within 6-10 hours of incubation.
