Selectively recover Salmonella species other than Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ XLT4 Agar Monoplate. XLT4 (Xylose-Lysine-Tergitol 4) Agar was developed by Miller and Tate to selectively screen samples contaminated with enteric organisms for the presence of Salmonella1. They found that XLT4 Agar completely inhibits competing enteric organisms. Mallinson et al. reported XLT4 Agar demonstrated significant improvements over traditionally used differential media for the detection of Salmonella from raw red and white meat samples and poultry litter2.
