Barraquer Wire Retractor, also known as a wire speculum or wire lid retractor, is a surgical instrument used in ophthalmic surgery to hold the eyelids open and maintain exposure during eye procedures. It consists of a thin wire loop or loops that are gently inserted between the eyelids and then expanded to keep the eyelids apart. The wire loops have a curved shape that conforms to the contour of the eyelids, allowing for secure and comfortable placement. This wire retractor give you a clear and unobstructed view of the surgical site, while also preventing unintentional blinking and protecting the eyelids from accidental injury. These retractors are 4 cm (1.5") long, and the wire blades are 10 x 4 mm and 7 mm deep. The maximum spread is 3 cm. These wire retractors are manufactured from surgical grade stainless steel or premium German steel. Always clean your surgical instruments as soon as your finish with them. These may be autoclaved or sterilized chemically.
