Sabouraud Dextrose Agar with Chloramphenicol, 15×100mm plates containing 25 mL of medium, is a selective culture medium designed for the isolation, cultivation, and enumeration of fungi including yeasts and molds. The formulation features a slightly acidic pH and a high dextrose concentration that favors fungal growth while inhibiting many bacterial contaminants. The addition of chloramphenicol further suppresses bacterial growth, improving the recovery of fungal organisms from mixed samples. This medium is widely used in clinical mycology, pharmaceutical quality control, food and beverage testing, and environmental microbiology. Each plate is pre poured with sterile agar to a consistent depth to provide reliable growth conditions, reproducible results, and convenient handling in routine microbiology laboratory workflows.
