Sabouraud Dextrose Broth is a sterile liquid culture medium used for the enrichment and cultivation of yeasts, molds, and other acid tolerant microorganisms. It contains a high concentration of dextrose to provide an abundant energy source for fungal metabolism and growth. The broth is maintained at an acidic pH of approximately 5.6, which discourages many bacterial species while allowing fungi to develop more readily. This liquid formulation is widely used in sterility testing, environmental monitoring, and microbiological quality control.
