Saikogenin D is a compound isolated from Bupleurum chinense with anti-inflammatory effects. It activates epoxygenases, which convert arachidonic acid into epoxyeicosanoids and dihydroxyeicosatrienoic acids. These metabolites, in turn, inhibit prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production. Additionally, Saikogenin D leads to an elevation of intracellular Ca2+ ([Ca2+]i) due to Ca2+ release from intracellular stores.
