Salicylamide is an inhibitor of microsomal UDP-glucuronosyltransferase. It also acts as an analgesic and anti-pyretic agent. Studies indicate that salicylamide treatment inhibits bacterial growth and affects radiosulfate levels in maternal serum and placenta, thereby affecting the incorporation of radiosulfate into fetal skeletal GAGs and calcium content of fetal limb bones.
