Sappanchalcone is a flavonoid isolated from Caesalpinia sappan L. It induces caspase-dependent and AIF-dependent apoptosis in human colon cancer cells. It reduces MMP with a significant increase in ROS levels in human colon cancer cells and triggers phosphorylation of p53, which is involved in the activation of caspases and increased expression of Bax in HCT116 cells.
- Isolated from Caesalpinia sappan L.
- Induces caspase-dependent and AIF-dependent apoptosis in human colon cancer cells.
- Statistically significant effect on HCT116 cells (IC50 = 37.33 μM) and SW480 cells (IC50 = 54.23 μM).
- Reduces MMP with increased ROS levels in human colon cancer cells.
- Triggers phosphorylation of p53, activating caspases and increasing Bax expression in HCT116 cells.
