Schiffs reagent for the periodic acid Schiff, or PAS reaction, is used for the detection of mucopolysaccharides, glycogen, muco- and glycoproteins, glyco-, phospholipids, basal membranes and collagen. With Schiff's reagent aldehydes give a bright red color reaction, thus in combination with the periodic acid the nuclei appear blue. 500 ml are sufficient for approx. 2500 - 3000 stainings. It is registered as IVD and CE certified product and can be used for clinical diagnostics.
