For optimizing, evaluating, monitoring and troubleshooting HIV-1 (Human immunodeficiency Virus Type 1) RNA assays

  • Consists of seven positive members representing serial log dilutions of cultured HIV-1 type B 8E5 virus in HIV-1 RNA negative diluent and one negative member prepared from diluent
  • Type B HIV-1 virus derived from 8E5 cells which containing intact but defective viral genome
  • Diluent prepared from normal human plasma filtered through 0.2μm filter
  • Sodium azide (0.09%) added as preservative
  • Also used as part of operator training programs or for operator validation as part of ongoing laboratory quality assurance programs
