Shigella Broth is a selective enrichment medium used for the detection and recovery of Shigella species from food and environmental samples. The broth supports the growth of this pathogen while helping suppress competing microorganisms that may be present in the sample. This 225mL bottle is pre measured to support the standard 1:10 sample dilution used in many food microbiology testing protocols. By adding a 25g sample directly into the bottle, laboratories can quickly prepare the required suspension for enrichment procedures. The medium is commonly used as an early step in food safety testing to help recover stressed Shigella cells before transferring them to selective isolation media.
