This kit permits the determination of volumetric changes of materials as a function of temperature. It is useful for materials that have a linear coefficient of expansion that cannot be easily determined by the expansion probe. The dilatometer is useful for determining the volume change of materials upon melting, or upon cooling from a melt. A typical application would be the determination of shrinkage from a mold.
