QuickZyme Soluble Collagen Assay Kit, 2 X 96-Assays. Measure all types of fibrillary collagen in conditioned cell culture media and cellular extracts. Fast & simple 96-well plate format! Species independent. Not affected by serum. Dynamic range: 0.5-10 ug/well. Sensitivity: 0.69 ug/well. Sample vol. 10 -140 ul. Assay time < 3 hrs. Collagen is one of the main components of extracellular matrix. Dysregulated collagen production results in numerous pathologies, thus collagen measurement is important in many disease related studies. The QuickZyme collagen assay is based on binding of Sirius Red dye to collagen. Following dye-binding, the collagen-dye complex precipitates, resulting in a colored pellet. This color can be released in an alkaline solution. After heating at 50C the signal is lost, as the assay does not recognize denatured collagen (gelatin). The assay can be used to analyze soluble collagen or collagen that is solubilized by acetic acid alone or in combination with pepsin.
