Soya Peptone Yeast Extract Agar is a selective medium for isolating dermatophytes, especially Trichophyton verrucosum, and other pathogenic fungi. Soya peptone, yeast extract and a high dextrose level promote fungal growth and pigmentation, while streptomycin sulphate and chloramphenicol suppress bacterial overgrowth, final pH 6.6. This combination makes it valuable in clinical and veterinary mycology for recovering slow-growing dermatophytes from skin, hair and nail samples. Dehydrated powder, store in a cool dry place. Packaged as 500 g.
