SPR719 (VXc-486) is an orally active gyrase B inhibitor that exhibits bactericidal activity. It shows promise for research into lung diseases caused by non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM).

  • Potently inhibits multiple agent-sensitive and drug-resistant isolates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
  • Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MICs) against Mycobacterium tuberculosis range from 0.03 to 0.30 μg/ml for agent-sensitive isolates and 0.08 to 5.48 μg/ml for drug-resistant isolates.
  • Reduces mycobacterial burden in a chronic tuberculosis infection model in mice when administered orally.
  • Inhibits M. tuberculosis replication in macrophages with an MIC range of 0.125-0.25 μg/mL.
