SR 49059 is an orally active synthetic small molecule that is a potent and selective inhibitor of the arginine vasopressin (AVP) V1a-receptor (Ki=1.1-6.3 nM). AVP is an important hormone for circulatory and water homeostasis, as well as renal hemodynamic alterations, water retention, and cardiac remodeling in congestive heart failure. SR 49059 shows promise in platelet aggregation inhibition and treatment of Raynaud's disease, dysmenorrhea, and tocolysis. Provided as 1 mg of dry powder.
