1 Kit
Description
- The voltaic cell is an electrochemical cell that produces electrical energy an oxidation-reduction chemical reaction
- In this activity students will set up electrochemical cells, with each group using a different combination of materials for the anode and the cathode of the cell
- Students will also compare two different styles of cell, one using a salt bridge and one using a semi-permeable membrane
- After determining the voltage output of their unique cells, and comparing their values to the rest of the class, students will be challenged to design an electrochemical cell capable of running a small motor
- Kit contains enough materials for 15 groups
- Teacher’s manual and Student Study Guide copy masters are included
