Sudan I (Solvent Yellow 14) is a diazo-conjugate red dye commonly used as an additive in products such as oils, solvents, and polishes. This monoazo dye, with the chemical formula 1-phenylazo-2-naphthol, is known for inhibiting the growth of bacterial strains *Clostridium perfringens* and *L. rhamnosus*.
