Dojindo Molecular Technologies Inc -SulfoBiotics- PEG-PCMal (1 mg): monitor redox state of proteins in biological samples, visualize modification of thiol residues by electrophoresis, high transfer efficiency in Western Blotting.

Supplier: Dojindo Molecular Technologies Inc SB2001

PEG-PCMal is a reagent used to visualize the redox states of protein by electrophoretic analysis. PEG-PCMal has a maleimide group that binds a protein thiol group. A mobility shift corresponding to about 5 kDa is observed by electrophoretic analysis for each molecule of PEG-PCMal binds to a free thiol group of the target protein. The conventional reagent, PEG-Maleimide is widely used in mobility shift assays, however, transfer efficiency and antibody recognition on Western blot are low, due to the PEG chains on the labeled protein.PEG-PCMal has a UV-photocleavable moiety in the molecule. The PEG chains are cut off from the labeled protein in the gel with UV irradiation after electrophoresis. Therefore, the protein treated with UV irradiation can be transferred from the gel to a PVDF membrane and detected by Western blot. Dojindo offers various sulfur biology reagents.
