It is useful for mineral processing, fertilizer manufacture, petroleum purification, wastewater processing and chemical synthesis. The catalytic decomposition of sulfuric acid on mixed Cr/Fe oxide shows a useful application in sulfur-iodine cycle for hydrogen production.
