Avibactam free acid, also known as NXL-104 free acid, is a potent covalent and reversible non-β-lactam β-lactamase inhibitor. It demonstrates strong inhibitory activity against β-lactamase TEM-1 and CTX-M-15, with IC50 values of 8 nM and 5 nM, respectively. This compound exhibits minimal antibacterial activity on its own but is effective in inhibiting Class A and C β-lactamases. It does not inhibit metallo β-lactamases or Acinetobacter OXA carbapenemases.
