Description
It is used as an acousto-optic material and a conditional glass former. The glasses of tellurium oxide have high refractive indices. Owing to the transmission into mid-infrared part of the electromagnetic spectrum, tellurium oxide is of technological interest for optical waveguides. It is also employed in optical fibre amplification.
