It exhibits anti-inflammatory activity through inhibition of the NF-kappaB pathway. It suppressed IkappaB kinase complex alpha/beta IKKalpha/beta and Inhibitory-kappa-B-alpha IkappaBalpha, inhibiting p65 translocation and thereby suppressing COX-2 and iNOS expression. This compound is modulating bacterial resistance to antimicrobial drugs most probably via efflux pump inhibition. It also showed anti-mutagenic activity.
