Thioflavin T is a cationic Benzothiazole dye that exhibits enhanced fluorescence upon binding to amyloid in tissue sections. It is a fluorescent dye used for staining Aβ fibrils with green fluorescence and is commonly used to measure protein fibrillation. Weakly fluorescent in aqueous solutions, it shows enhanced emission at 482 nm when bound to Aβ plaques. It can be applied in Alzheimer's disease research and to detect endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) by displaying green fluorescence when binding to protein aggregates.
