Tirofiban hydrochloride monohydrate is a selective and reversible platelet integrin receptor (Gp IIb/IIIa) antagonist that inhibits fibrinogen binding to this receptor and possesses antithrombotic activity. It induces proliferation and migration of endothelial cells by stimulating VEGF production, and can significantly reduce myocardial no-reflow and ischemia-reperfusion injury.
