Tirofiban hydrochloride monohydrate is a selective and reversible platelet integrin receptor (Gp IIb/IIIa) antagonist. It inhibits fibrinogen binding to this receptor and demonstrates antithrombotic activity. This compound also induces proliferation and migration on endothelial cells by stimulating VEGF production, and can significantly reduce myocardial no-reflow and ischemia-reperfusion injury by improving myocardial microvascular structural and endothelial dysfunction in ischemic areas.
