Toltrazuril sulfone (Ponazuril) is a metabolite of Toltrazuril, possessing antiprotozoal activity. It is a triazine anticoccidial developed to prevent coccidiosis in poultry.

  • Inhibits the development of merozoites of *S. neurona*.
  • It inhibits the development of *N. caninum* approximately 48 hours post-exposure.
  • It exhibits inhibitory effects possibly by targeting different enzyme/enzyme systems in various apicomplexans.
  • Inhibits *T. gondii* replication after the second division by endodyogeny (5 mg/ml; 20 hours).
  • Effective in preventing and treating toxoplasmosis in mice (10-20 mg/kg; p.o.; daily; for 10 days).
