Trans-Cinnamic acid, also known as Trans-3-Phenylacrylic acid, is a natural antimicrobial. It exhibits a minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 250 μg/mL against the fish pathogen A. sobria, SY-AS1, and shows moderate inhibition against other fish pathogens and isolates. The effectiveness against bacteria is enhanced when the pH of the culture media is not neutralized. It also inhibits M-CSF/RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation in mouse bone marrow macrophage.
