trans,trans-2,4-Decadienal is a lipid peroxidation product of linoleic acid. Two metabolic pathways for its biotransformation in vivo are proposed: oxidation to the corresponding carboxylic acid in liver cells, and glutathione conjugation, breakdown, and aldehyde reduction, generating cysteine-conjugated 2,4-decadien-1-ol in both liver and lung cells.
