Differentiate and identify Trichophyton species based on nutritional requirements using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Trichophyton Agar No. 6 (Ammonium Nitrate Agar Base). Different Trichophyton species resemble one another closely in culture and are difficult to differentiate on the basis of colony formation or microscopic morphology alone. Georg and Camp developed Trichophyton Agars for differentiation and identification of Trichophyton isolates based on specific vitamin and amino acid requirements1.

Trichophyton Agars are to be used with Trichophyton isolates that have been presumptively identified by gross colony characteristics and microscopic morphology 2-5.
