Tylosin tartrate is a macrolide antibiotic naturally found as a fermentation product of *Streptomyces fradiae*. It exhibits potent antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and is used as a feed additive to promote animal growth. It is also used in veterinary medicine to treat bacterial dysentery and respiratory diseases in poultry, pigs, and cattle. It exerts antibacterial effects by binding to the 23S rRNA of the bacterial ribosomal 50S subunit and also inhibits the growth of Gram-negative strains.
