Plasma membrane monocarboxylate transporters MCTs inhibitor, but with Ki values some two or three orders of magnitude higher than those for the inhibition of the MPC. Inhibits mitochondrial lactate and pyruvate transport. Decreases glycolysis. Useful agent for immunometabolism research.
