Human interleukin-17A (IL-17A), also known as cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 8 (CTLA-8), is a glycosylated 17.5 kDa homodimer protein with two disulfide bonds. It induces stromal cells to produce proinflammatory and hematopoietic cytokines, and it enhances the surface expression of ICAM1/intracellular adhesion molecule 1 in fibroblasts. IL-17A is a positive regulator of IL-23 production and is a key component of the Th17 pathway. IL-17A can dimerize with IL-17F. The receptor for the IL-17A, IL-17F, and IL-17A/IL-17F hetereodimer consists of IL-17RA and IL-17RC. IL-17A is involved in human rhinovirus infection and Sjogrens syndrome. The Human IL-17A Kit provides assay-specific components for the quantitative determination of endogenous IL-17A in human urine, serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants
