Description

Valproate sodium is a branched chain fatty acid with anticancer, neuroprotective, and anti-inflammatory properties.

It is also an inhibitor of histone deacetylase (HDAC) through promotion of transcriptionally active chromatin. This inhibition may regulate the neuroprotective effects of valproic acid.
