W.B.C. Diluting Fluid is a ready-to-use reagent for performing the white blood cell (leucocyte) count in the hematology laboratory. It combines glacial acetic acid, which lyses interfering red blood cells, with gentian violet, which lightly stains leucocyte nuclei so the cells are easily seen and counted, at a working pH of about 2.2. Blood is drawn and diluted in a WBC pipette and the cells enumerated in a counting chamber. Intended for professional in-vitro diagnostic use. Store in a cool place. Packaged as 500 ml liquid.
