The Leukotriene A4 Hydrolase Antibody (YA2400) targets the protein encoded by the LTA4H gene, an enzyme possessing both hydrolase and aminopeptidase activities. Its hydrolase function is integral to the final step of leukotriene B4 biosynthesis, a significant proinflammatory mediator. The aminopeptidase activity of this enzyme is known for its role in degrading proline-glycine-proline (PGP), a neutrophil chemoattractant and biomarker associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Multiple transcript variants of this gene have been identified, encoding various isoforms of the protein.
