Tiratricol is an orally available thyroid hormone analog. It functions as an intracellular toxin neutralizer, inhibiting the cytotoxicity of LPS and lipid A with IC50 values of 20 μM and 32 μM, respectively. Additionally, Tiratricol reduces TNF production in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated macrophages. It also exhibits antiviral activity, specifically acting as an inhibitor of the yellow fever virus (Flavivirus) by binding to the RdRp domain of the viral NS5 protein, thereby hindering YFV replication.
