A sensitive, stable green fluorescent nucleic acid dye designed for precast or post-electrophoresis staining of dsDNA, ssDNA or RNA in agarose gels. GelGreen offers more sensitivity and stability (both hydrolytic and thermal) than SYBR dyes. GelGreen is compatible with gel purification, restriction digest, sequencing and cloning.
Bioworld Coomassie Blue R-250 (2X), 500 mL
Stain for location and detection of proteins. Protocol: After SDS-PAGE, transfer the gels in fixing solution (30% methanol and 7% acetic acid) for 30 min. under constant agitation. Replace the fixing solution, submerge the gel in stain and shake the gel gently gor 2-4 hrs. Pour off the stain, rinse the gel briefly with fixing solution and cover the gel with fresh fixing solution for 30 min. Repeat and continue destaining until distinct blue bands against a clear background are obtained. Store the gel in 7% acetic acid solution. Biotium GelRed Nucleic Acid Gel Stain, 10,000X in DMSO, bulk pack
GelRed is a sensitive, stable and environmentally safer alternative to the highly toxic ethidium bromide (EB) for staining dsDNA, ssDNA or RNA in agarose or polyacrylamide gels (see PAGE GelRed Nucleic Acid Gel Stain). The dye is noncytotoxic, nonmutagenic and nonhazardous at concentrations used in gel staining. It can be conveniently disposed down the drain or in regular trash at working concentrations, reducing disposal costs. It is much more sensitive than EB or SYBR Safe and extremely stable for long-term room temperature storage. Simple to use in precast or post-electrophoresis gel staining and detected with a UV transilluminator in the same optical setting used for EB. Abcam Coomassie Brilliant Blue R-250 Protein Stain, 25G
MW 825.99 g/mol. Triphenylmethane dye used in SDS-PAGE for the analysis of proteins. The dye molecule binds to proteins to form a protein-dye complex. This complex stabilizes the negatively charged anionic form of the dye producing the blue color, even under acidic conditions.
