ALZET Osmotic Pumps are small infusion devices for accurate, continuous administration of test agents in unrestrained lab animals. They offer a convenient alternative for long-term dosing compared to stress-inducing methods such as injections and gavage. Pumps are sold empty and easily filled with the test agent via syringe. Their pumping rate is determined at manufacture and is not affected by the molecular weight of the test agent. Pumps are implanted subcutaneously or intraperitoneally for systemic delivery, or can be attached to an ALZET catheter for targeted delivery such as to the brain, vasculature, etc. Sterilized by gamma irradiation and ready for use.Nominal Specifications for Model 2004:•Reservoir Capacity:200 µl•Release Rate:0.25 µl/hr•Duration:28 days•Minimum animal size:20 g mouse or ratNote: Actual specifications vary within limits by lot and are provided with the pumps.
