S2Media™ Mueller-Hinton II (MH-II) Agar with 5% Sheep Blood is a non-selective and non-differential medium. Originally developed by Mueller and Hinton as a transparent medium for isolating Neisseria species, MH-II uses starch in place of pea extract to protect against toxic substances. Bauer, Kirby, Sherris, and Tuck recommended the medium for antibiotic susceptibility testing. The Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) endorses it because it supports consistent growth of most non-fastidious pathogens, minimizes inhibitors of key antibiotics, and ensures reliable batch-to-batch performance.• Product meets AOAC, ASM, BAM, CLSI, USDA, and WHO performance criteria.• Mueller-Hinton II Agar with 5% Sheep Blood should be used by trained professionals within a laboratory setting. • Product is not intended for IVD use.• Product is not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of disease or other human conditions.
