Centrifuge Tubes
Glass and plastic tubes designed for use in centrifuges; available in a variety of volume capacities, materials, configurations, RCF ratings, and closure types; may be sterile or non-sterile; may have graduations indicating volume on the tube.
Centrifuge tubes are used to contain liquids during centrifugation, which separates the sample into its components by rapidly rotating it around a fixed axis.
Most centrifuge tubes have conical bottoms, which help collect any solid or heavier parts of the sample being centrifuged. Centrifuge tubes must also be able to withstand the centrifugal pressure created during their use, and their specifications may indicate the maximum speed at which they can be safely used.
Centrifuge tubes are available in various styles, sizes, and materials
- Capacities: Range from 0.1mL to more than 100mL; the most common sizes are 15mL and 50mL (centrifuge) and 1mL and 2mL (microcentrifuge)
- Closures: Screw-on plugged or flat caps; may be attached or separate
- Markings: May have writing areas, graduations, or other markings
- Shape: Conical- or round-bottomed; if conical, choose skirted free-standing versions
- Material: Glass or plastic resin; the latter include polypropylene, polystyrene, PET, and PPCO
- Sterility: Sterile or nonsterile; may be heat- or gas-sterilized
- Packaging: Bulk or racked tubes
- Color: Choose amber or black plastics for light-sensitive samples

pluriMate was developed for optimal separation of leukocytes and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from whole blood and bone marrow. The key feature of pluriMate is the mesh supported barrier incorporated at the bottom of the centrifuge tube. It prevents you from time-consuming and laborious overlaying of the sample material. Anticoagulated blood or bone marrow can simply be poured directly from the blood sampling tube into the pluriMate tube. The barrier prevents mixture of the sample material with the separation medium. During the centrifugation the white blood cells (on the basis of their density) are separated depending on the used density gradient medium (Leuko Spin, PBMC Spin, PLT Spin etc.) and will be enriched above the mesh supported barrier and the separation medium. When the separation is complete, the barrier prevents a contamination of the enriched cell fraction during harvest with unwanted cells.

The sterile EZBio Centrifuge Tube Assembly is a single use closed loop system designed for aseptic sampling and sterile transfer.
All components are USP Class VI resin, assembled in a Class 7 cleanroom, and gamma-irradiated in the USA. These assemblies feature a closed cap, an 18” inlet line (1/8” x 1/4” TPE tubing) with a pinch clamp, pinch pipe, plug or luer or CPC MPC/AQS, a 1.5” vent line with PTFE hydrophobic filter, and a dip tube. A centrifuge tube stand securely holds either size. The polypropylene resin meets FDA and USP standards.
